UK- unveiled Mau Mau monument in Kenya

A UK-funded monument has been unveiled in Nairobi to honour Kenyan freedom fighters.

The memorial is part of an out-of-court settlement reached between the British government and a group of Kenyans who fought for independence, called the Mau Mau.

The group had sued for compensation due to the torture and ill-treatment they suffered during the period that preceded Kenya's independence from British colonial rule during the 1950s.
