4 Arrest for Trailing Ex-president Jonathan - Police

Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four young men for trailing the convoy of former president Goodluck Jonathan after attending a mega rally and presentation of flag to Governor Henry Seriake Dickson at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex at the weekend.

According to investigations, the men, who were alleged to have intercepted and drove into the motorcade conveying the former president from the Julius Berger bridge area of the state capital, Yenagoa, trailed and chased the motorcade to the entrance of the Yenagoa private residence of the former president in the Kpansia area of the town, before they were overpowered and arrested by a combined team of security operatives attached to Jonathan.

Police, in a statement issued yesterday through its spokesman, Asimin Butswat, confirmed the arrest but said they were not militants.

“Our preliminary investigation showed that these were not former militants but boys who mistook the former president ‘s convoy for their principal.”
