As the search for the abducted of Chibok girls continues, the
House of Representatives yesterday, urged the Federal Government to sponsor the education of one child from the families of each of the girls whisked away by Boko Haram insurgents more than a year ago.
Also, the House urged President Muhammadu Buhari to prioritise the rescue of the Chibok girls and thousands of others abducted by the insurgents in the North-East.
The member representing Damboa/Gwarzo/Chibok, Asabe Bashir, who sponsored the motion for urgent rescue of the 219 students of Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State, noted that no new approach had been introduced with regard to getting the girls back home.
Bashir stated that the families of the missing girls and the public still have not been informed of new initiatives that could lead to their rescue.
She, therefore, suggested that a special team consisting of officers from relevant security agencies should be set up, with the sole responsibility of finding the girls, adding that a control room should also be created from where the team would operate.
The House, which unanimously adopted the motion, also urged the Federal Government to publish the reports of the presidential fact-finding committee on the abducted Chibok girls.
