This is certainly not
the best of time for the broom carrying party (APC) as they have failed to amicably
resolve the crisis rocking the upper chamber of the National Assembly. The new
development, if care is not taking,
they might lose the senate president seat to PDP that is already waiting like vulture the patient bird to pounce on its
prey.
This is how the event
might play out next week when the elders with Solomon wisdom resume work. National Lifewatch can reliably inform you
that the long vacation of the lawmakers were not spent on pleasure, comfort and
research that could enhance their robust law making but, on how to save Saraki
or possibly bring back David Mark as senate president as plan B should plan A
fails.
PDP Senators have every
opportunity to seize the leadership of the Senate at inauguration but chose to
be democratic and exhibit political maturity. However, with the development in
the Senate of not allowing Bukola Saraki as the senate President ., the PDP
Senators need to save the Senate from the greed of some APC leaders that had
become inevitable, hence they should take over the senate in the event that
there is a need to elect a new Senate President. The calculation is that if APC
successfully use the judiciary or other means to remove Saraki, the PDP which
already has access to the Senate President's core supporters in APC, would
reach out to them, since they are already endangered and aggrieved.
This way, they
will get the required one third to elect either Senator David Mark or
Ekweremadu as their new Senate President. my personal opinion is that there
should be a measure of separation of power so PDP should take it .. my
confidence is predicated on a simple extrapolation of numbers and alliances. For
instance, the Senate has 109 seats, with one of the seats vacant as a result of
death.
The remaining 108 are
made up of 59 APC senators and 49 PDP senators.
While the APC caucus is divided over the emergence of Saraki as Senate President, the PDP caucus remains intact, and would only need 11 more Senators to fulfill the constitutional stipulation of one third votes to produce the Senate President.

PDP is also doing every
possibly to return back to the ruling power. This we learnt could be made
possibly by the fact that the man at the helm of affair as president and party
leader PMB is not a core politician as OBJ who understood the intrigues of politics;
this is one area the PDP will capitalize on to give APC a strong fight. The present
debacle in the senate might just make things a walk over for PDP. Time they say
is the healer of worn, we are watching the lives playing or acting these
events. Trust us to keep you posted on all happening at NASS.
