The word of God quoted above paints a painful picture of our so called men of God that have not only being deceiving the people – the politicians and poor masses – but have turned themselves to godfathers of Miracles.
They know the truth of what God says about corruption, vain glory and wickedness, yet. They chose to follow their lustful ways at the expense of God’s command. This comes to fore in Nigeria mostly at periods of critical national issues such as elections and governance, at this moments the unredeemed souls of Pastors and Imams fly around with self manufactured prophecies of shame and glory mostly to win politicians attention and have crumbs of the national loots.
Little wonder then, Nigeria religious leaders lack the power and boldness to warn corrupt government officials, unlike American’s Martin Luther king Jr. Whose activism in speaking out against the much injustice tagged against coloured people in America then help shaped America for good. I meant, his clergy ship did not end up just on the pulpit and giving out sycophantic prophecies as to be in the right book of politicians sharing loots but spoke and acted the mind of God like prophet Gad to David.
Nigeria’s hope of having such a courageous clergyman was anchored on Pastor Tunde Bakere but time has proven him insincere that all the noise that he was making during the administration of OBJ was just mere echoes in a forest.
In God’s dealing with Israel, when a king errs, the prophets of God serves as the medium through which God pass his warnings to the erring king these prophets without fear or favour declares God mind accordingly. Before God’s visitation of blessings or punishment comes to the land.
Today, alas! The prophets are now God, they chose what to say and to whom to say it even when God did not say it or send them to say or do so. The 2015 general elections in Nigeria witness this fact as prophecies became the drinking cup of every charlatan in the name of a prophet. At the end, one of them came out openly and even cried out to the world that Jonathan wants to kill him.
They fail again and again where they should have succeeded; they steal where they should not have stolen; they tell lies in the name of the Lord where simple truth should have been told; and they deceive where acting in a straightforward manner would have proved right, they pray for victory and winning when they are supposed to warn and pray for repentance. A critical look at Nigeria political landscape, one will discover that her - Men of God - the Imams and Pastors that rally round the Atikus and the Jonathans have not help matters.
This is the tragic situation of our shameless and dishonourable spiritual politicians in Nigeria. Then, when it becomes certain that they have failed, they proceeded to the holy land, thinking God could be bribed, this ugly situation has helped to complicate the Nigeria sickness.
The Nigeria sickness of religion plus politics and corruption plus tribalism has only gotten it hold on the country because of the short sightedness and trading away the sacred privilege of being the mouthpiece of God to human.
Not surprising, one of the Oritsejafors’ and others prayers for the re-election of former president Goodluck Jonathan could not be answered.
The book of Galatians 6:7 say it all “do not be mock, whatsoever a man sows , that shall he also reap” this accounted for the large reason while Jonathan’s much manhunt for prayers was never answered because they were prayers mixed with covetousness, for self glorification, hypocrisy, and sycophancy. The only answer to such prayers is a disgrace out of Aso Villa as Bros Joe can attest better.
Fake men of God, be warned.
