The General Overseer of Christ Love International Ministries Jikwoyi, Abuja. Rev. Micah Ojukwu yesterday stated that once a Man pays a Woman’s
traditional bride price she becomes his Wife and has the legal right to commence procreation process with her without carrying out the traditional Church wedding.

The Pastor stated this while giving clarifications on a question rose on the issue of traditional marriage and church wedding during a Sunday school review class.

The clergy further explained that if couples start having sexual intercourse after the consent of both couple’s parents is sort and the payment of bride price made, they can no longer wed but carry out correction marriage or marriage blessing in the church.

He said the huge financial responsibility of combining traditional marriage with church or English wedding has prevented many young people from getting married at the appropriate time as it has demerits as well. He further explained that carrying out church wedding without paying a woman’s dowry is unchristian.

“What God requires in marriage is the bed undefiled, parental approval and payment of dowry” the Pastor explained. “This is not a cancellation of church wedding as it is more blessed to have the two done; it (church wedding) becomes an option in the face of financial challenges” he added.
