Buhari’s Appointments Tears APC Apart

Growing up as a child, I remember clearly how at every FRCN network news broadcast the popular jingle “united we stand but divided we fall”
as well as “radio Nigeria, uniting the people and uplifting the nation” were used to drum home the important of peaceful co-existence and drawing strength from unity in diversities. In a multi-cultural womb like Nigeria, the essence of sticking to values and formulating policies and attitudes that will create an enabling environment for all to have a say and sense of belonging cannot be over emphasized.

National lifewatch and online reporters is keenly concerned about this great nation’s (Nigeria) unity because unity either between one’s self, community and a nation is the spring board from which progress and prosperity shoots from. The great book made us to understand that unity existed and still exists between the God head during creation, redemption and reconciliation from this it is deducible that unity is the first human resources for development and progress.

It is obvious that Nigeria stands on a tripod and this is reflective in any government establishment that is headed by a westerner, southerner or easterner this cancer which is fueled by greed and the lack of mutual trust is a continuous bane to Nigeria’s progressive acceleration as a so reign state.

Some Nigerians in ignorance blindly blabs that the nation’s challenges and specifically that of unity is as a result of her large population or averseness but her population cannot be compare to a more united and progressive India, China and the Brazil which at independence were paired with Nigeria as nations that if all are equal will be great in this very future but statistics have shown that Nigeria is far behind in terms of technological and economic advancement this is primarily so because Nigeria is still wallowing in the mold of sectionalism and self.

It is very unfortunate that people voted president Buhari on the grounds of him being a strong man that can stab corruption to death with a knife Nigerians have not seen the reason this assumption is unfortunate is because most Nigeria built a strong man persona around the president which is totally against Barrack Obama’s golden advice to Africa leaders and followers against having strongmen instead of strong institutions. Strong men can leave office or answer nature’s call at any given time but strong institutions lives on, to put a long lasting fighting against the  devils of corruption Mr. President must go beyond his acclaimed qualities of integrity, honesty, and strong man ship to marry the time tested principle of unity in diversity irrespective of tribe, religion and party or political affiliation.

Research have shown that Mr. President is a man that have a query with the subject of national unity for instance the President showed a very strong disposition for the emergency of Senator Ike Ekeremadu as deputy Senate president in an APC led government despite the fact that many political observers believe that it is healthy for our democracy and a mere replay of Tambulwa’s episode in a PDP led government. This Malice of the President toward the camp of national unity and particularly his unforgiving malice towards the south east which he said gave him 5 percent votes and as such should be made to pay for it now that he is the captain of the nation, this shows that Mr. president lacked the qualities of a truly good leader.

A similar case in the great Book in 1Sam 30 :22 says “Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away and depart, verse 23, then said David, ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the Lord hath given us, who hath preserved us and delivered the company that came against us into our hand verse 24 says further, for who will hearken unto you in this matter? But as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarries by the stuff; they shall part alike, and it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israeli unto this day”

There is a great lesson to be learnt from the above account. This was a king who knew the enormous support God granted them for the victory they had, instead of allowing the vindictive suggestion of others, he toed the path of honour by uniting all the political and sectional interest. Will President Buhari do the same or will he allow the other side of human nature to have upper hand in him?

In view of President Buhari’s Malice against national unity, Nigerians’ dream of having a messiah that can purge the nation is very far from actualization. A closed compares between Nelson Mandela and President Buhari you will see that there is a great gap between the two in that Mandela had the full potentials of a state man because of his ability to unite both the whites and blacks despite the innumerable atrocities he and South Africa’s blacks suffered from the white.

When he finally became a President, instead of demanding for a pound of flesh from the whites as many taught, he rather trekked the part the greats can only walk which is the street of unity there by transforming south Africa and redefining the country’s destiny, and melting a racial hate drunken nation to a rainbow nation, this is the single quality that endeared the world to Mandela, this is the single quality that made South Africa to be strongly progressive. Without President Buhari’s change of mind set towards national unity and even distribution of national projects and appointments, he will only spend his second opportunity in office just maintaining and reshuffling cabinet while neglecting the core issue of national unity.

In views of this, three top APC’s national leaders spoke out that the President is already given the party a bad name among Nigerians. They had hope that he would learn from the criticisms that trailed his first appointments where more northerners were appointed into sensitive positions than the southerners.

The questions begging for answers before Mr. President are that what will he be remembered for after 2019? Will he be remembered as truly national President? Will he be remembered as a northern President? Will he be remembered as party President? Still, will he be remembered as a Military and Civilian President? Best still will he be remember as ruler that came and rekindle the ambers of national hatred or as a leader that extinguished the fires of national hatred?
